Inland American successfully halts mini-tender offer
Improper offer thwarted after REIT issues cease and desist order

No mini-tenders
Recently, Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc. scored a major victory against Madison Liquidity Investors, LLC. Acting in violation of Inland American’s charter, Madison had targeted the real estate investment trust’s (REIT) investors with a mini-tender offer, or a solicitation to purchase Inland American shares at a fraction of their true value. Inland American acted quickly, issuing a cease and desist order against the company. The mini-tender offer was soon withdrawn.

You have probably seen one, even if you didn’t know what it was: a strange image in the corner of an ad, reminiscent of a barcode. QR codes have been a common feature in magazine ads for the past several years, whisking shoppers away to a brand’s website. In the past six months, several of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc. real estate investment trusts have been utilizing the technology as well, both to engage with consumers and to help lease vacant space to retailers.

Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc.’s IDS Center has been heralded as one of the finest skyscrapers in the country, even being named the centerpiece of the Minneapolis skyline. Now, in addition to being a work of art, IDS Center has received three Green Globes Continual Improvement of Existing Buildings (CIEB) certifications.
